Backcountry ski & splitboard adventures

Looking for an ultimate ski or splitboard touring adventure away from the piste and the masses without giving up all your normal holiday necessities such as nice accommodation so you can relax at the end of the day with a drink and a nice meal?  Our passionate dedicated professional guides team love what they do and will complete this package, stress free. You don't have to worry about anything. Except for giving your body a work out as you skin up the mountain and reward yourself with a well earned descent in the backcountry in one of the best places in the alps here in Austria! If you are a first timer, you hear and will experience yourself that this can be very addictive and it will open your mind to a new world of wintersports. Once you have tried it, you'll never look back!  Instead of using the ski lifts to get you up the mountain, you skin up and be in nature leaving all the daily commotion behind you.

Who can do it?

Not only expert skiers and boarders but also intermediate skiers/boarders who dreamt of doing this since years. You should be able to get confident down any red run whilst parallel in a ski resort and it is a plus if you have experience skiing in lots of different types of snow including some off piste. This means, we have tours on offer for people who have never done this before up to people who are very experienced in the backcountry. A lot of people always ask about the amount of fitness they need to have to participate in any of our programmes. You need to be ware that you can climb between 600 and 1800 altitude meters per day and must have a good average cardio fitness.

There are always risks of avalanches and mountain hazards if you are off piste. Therefor, you need qualified guides that have years of experience, advanced safety training, expert technical ability and local experience!  All our guides have all of these. Not only that, as many mountain guides are not very strong skiers, we can guarantee that all our guides have also the highest Austrian ski instructor qualification. They have both. This is a massive advantage as our guides can always find the best snow and give you tips and tricks on your personal skiing/snowboarding as they are professional skiers themselves. This makes them the ultimate guide and gets the most out of an unforgettable ski touring adventure in the mountains.

Ski touring skis are generally lighter and wider under the foot than downhill skis with ski touring bindings (allowing you to have a free or fixed heel) and detachable skins which stick to the bottom of the ski for skinning up hill. For snowboarders, you will be needing a splitboard including skins. As you are off piste you must have a shovel, probe and avalanche transceiver with you whenever you go in the backcountry. If you don't have any of this. We will of course assist you with renting the equipment here in resort upon arrival. Our guides will give you personal assistance in the shop to make sure, you have the right equipment that suits you best.

Our small group guided tours have the following so you get more time skiing and snowboarding.
